Two Santa Cruz police detectives and one suspect are dead after a shootout in Santa Cruz Tuesday afternoon.

Santa Cruz has never lost an officer in the line of duty.

Law enforcement from across the county are on a manhunt in Santa Cruz.

... Project ROPE was issued for a white four-door Honda or Toyota Corolla seen leaving the scene of the Branciforte shooting. Police are looking for a white male with long, blondish brown hair in his 20s with a backpack, gray baseball cap and white T-shirt.

3. My neighbor retired from Santa Cruz police Dec. 31, 2012

I always worried about him because my daughter's neighbor was shot in the line of duty about 7 years ago when he was a Santa Cruz policeman.

I am so sad.
