that was invaded and massacred by White racists back in the '30s I believe. If I recall correctly, there was no "precipitating" event claimed as an excuse, as there often is, the killers just went into Greenwood and murdered a bunch of people. I don't think anything ever became of the incident in court either, though there has been a memorial established for the several dozens of victims. Though, according to Howard Zinn, things were pretty damned rough in this country from the start, that century from approximately mid 19th to mid 20th century was particularly bad.
