a poster had responded that "liberals" are averse to calling out violence in the Muslim world.
Here is part of the quote:
"Liberals are quiet about the violence and intolerance in the Islamic world because bringing it up is seen as justification of right-wing doctrine."
The only people I know of who speak out against all the violence in the world are liberals. It is conservatives who only accuse one side of violence while ignoring the violent actions of their allies.

(20,600 posts)muslim countries, instead the focus seems to be on attacking christians in this country, among what seems to be a large chunk of many on the left side. The muslims seem to have a lot more defenders for example, even though many of those countries still have centuries old backwards rules regarding women and homosexuals. I guess some of this can be put down to geography, since many of us live in the USA, we concentrate on what is happening in our country instead of what happens in many muslim countries, which is far more extreme.

(47,992 posts)survived may be what could be characterized as in the Tao of Liberalism, which simply put, could amount to doing and being Liberal in the most concrete and immediate ways possible, with somewhat less investment in long-range outcomes that are beyond out ken. That means Liberal calls to end human sacrifice are relevant to those we happen to find ourselves most closely associated with, Christians, mostly, and there certainly is way more grist for that particular mill than there are Liberals to grind it.
But, yeah, we should try to make it known that the principles we live by are as universally relevant to the Family of Man as we are able to make them, which is why you'll find so many Liberals committed to this board, even though it isn't often an easy place to be.
Hang in there, randr, and thanks!
