Mika Brzezinski just said she "likes" Reince Priebus "a lot"

And who wouldn't, because there's certainly a lot to like.

The comment was that she found his "Captain Schettino" comment to be "reprehensible," but she framed it by saying "Reince Priebus, who...and I'm sorry, I like him a lot, but..."

And she SAID this with Debbie Wasserman Schultz sitting two feet away. The camera stayed on Mika while she was saying this and didn't cut to Debbie for a reaction shot.

It wasn't so much the idea that she said it and I felt she put 100% conviction behind it. It was more like "Why did you feel that you needed to say that?" It was almost as if she wasn't comfortable condemning the statement without praising its source.

She always couches any criticism in such terms.

Thus far, she's gotten by with it, since most frothing RWers are a very shallow sort.

I think she's doing all she can do, in that situation.

Notice how Joe demeans and disparages her when she's allowed to focus on HER issues?

If Mika had her own show, I suspect it would be VERY, VERY different.

She annoys me no end,
and I want to shake her.

She's a big girl, and she needs to stare down the frat boys
that daily sit on that panel.
but she flirts and plays along, and undoes any good that progressive
women have achieved so we could sit at the table with the big boys.

This is a waste...
do her best...? I don't think so.
I'm sure MSNBC didn't write her contract as 'eye candy..'
but I've been wrong before...

...why was it necessary to preface her flagging of his remarks as "repugnant, unacceptable, and flat-out beneath contempt" by saying that she "liked him a lot?" That's the issue I have here.

I just question what satisfaction she gets from playing Colmes to Scarborough's Hannity.

I'm not slurring her, either. I saw no valid reason for her to give Priebus props before condemning his comments. If she likes him a lot that's her business, I just question why she had to share that before addressing the "Captain Schettino" remarks. It was almost as if she was seeking permission or apologizing in advance...maybe both.

I cannot tolerate Mika's sempering, obsequious, self-demeaning behavior all done for the sake of keeping the job and not be slapped down.
I agree with you she would be different if she had her own show.
I would respect her if she walked off the set and quit.
Like yesterday.

and Joe yesterday. No doubt she is a bright woman but being a sidekick to Joe blow-hard she will never, never be allowed to grow. She will always be in Joe's shadow. Similar to Alan Colmes when he as on with whats-his-name on Fraud TV. In one of Al Franken's books, he referred to Colmes with the little "c".

So, she will be little "m" until she gets her own venue.
