A real progressive to battle the new Republican legislature would be great.

(3,310 posts)I really, really like him a lot. The word up a day or so ago was that he definitely was not running. This is an interesting turn in events.
That complicates the choice for me. My state-level rep is Bill Faison. He's one of the really good guys, too. Mr Faison always answers emails personally and cordially. He's a Democrat up and down.
I'd love to see either Brad or Bill in the governor's mansion, but I'd hate to have to choose.

(52,589 posts)Yes, either Brad or Bill would be fine but which will fare better against Erskine in a primary in your opinion?

(3,310 posts)Erskine is probably more of a household name, but I suspect that far less understand what he was pushing on the Cat Food Commission. Brad would probably do better and he's a fighter. Whatever Erskine will throw, Brad can throw back two. Bill OTOH is a nice guy, not afraid to call stupidity out, but he's a lot more understated. I guess the only distinction between Erskine and McCrory is who makes a better Republican.
It will be an interesting primary.

(52,589 posts)In addition to the calls and e-mails Ive received without asking, Ive made a few calls to people who have supported me in the past. I am encouraged that if I do decide to run, I would begin with a credible base and would be able to put together a campaign quickly.

Give our Republican legislature a kick in the teeth for gerrymandering him out of Congress. The perfect irony.

(52,589 posts)Price is the dean of the Democratic congressional contingent so he bowed out rather than go through a primary fight.
