I read an article by Robert Reich and he said the sequester could be repealed through

reconciliation. There would certainly be 51 votes to repeal it, I think anyway. Why isn't the dems considering this? If these cuts are so catastrophic and damaging, why play this game of chicken with those obstinate republicans? Repeal it and just battle it out. I'd rather they do their dog and pony show like they do every couple of months than have people losing pay and jobs because of it.

Reconciliation prevents the Senate from holding up a bill the House has passed, one time per year, if it reduces the deficit over a 10-year window. It doesn't let the Senate just pass something on its own, unfortunately.

I wonder why Reich said that in his article. He should know full well that would NEVER pass in the house.

Yeah, we wouldn't be discussing any of this had Reid done filibuster reform. I guess the turtle is chuckling quite heartily over the fact that he duped Harry into thinking they would be "different" this time around.

He knew McTurtle wasn't going to keep his word, but went along with it anyway. He really didn't want to get rid of the filibuster. This way, by pretending that he had a deal with McConnell, it made him look like he had done something.
