Medicare Advantage programs (which apparently began as some sort of undercover attempt to introduce private profit into Medicare, allowing for-profit insurance companies like Aetna, etc. to cash in by becoming Medicare "providers," but actually costing the govt more than traditional Medicare).

This would mean that the insurance companies will be screaming, and hoping to recruit their current Medicare Advantage customers to join in on their fight.

Sorry I wish I had a link, but you can probably find it by googling news on Medicare Advantage.

While I'd generally prefer to see profit out of health care, a lot of beneficiaries like these plans. Beneficiaries sonetimes get a little extra than through regular Medicare. And many of these plans provide better coordination of care. These companies operate under strict government controls, but like regular Medicare, there are things to gripe about.
