I've been really busy and didn't realize it's been 10 years...
I was never in any harm, saw no action and the war had very little if any personal affect on my life.
There was one thing that I wanted to share though. 10 years ago (wow, that's still hard to imagine) my ship was turning circles in the Persian Gulf. Before we got there, while crossing the Pacific, I remember watching CNN or some channel where North Korea was bragging about their nuclear program and Saddam was telling everyone that he didn't have anything. I remember looking away from the tv and seeing our ship headed south of the Philippines with the Korean peninsula barely being visible at the top of the map.
Always bothered the shit out of me, and one of the main reasons I left. Tonight, after reading kpete's post I'm having a hard time going to sleep. I hope anyone who ends up reading this will join me and make sure that NO ONE, EVER, TELLS THE IRAQ WAR STORY AS THE LIBERATION OF IRAQ WITHOUT GETTING FACT CHECKED. We were sent on a lie and history must always reflect that. Never let anyone try to rewrite it in front of you.
