Can Republicanism be cured?

Their ailments are many and varied. Hatred of women's rights, black and brown people, LGBTs and other assorted “Thems.” Love of war. Zero empathy. Terminal hypocrisy. Gluttonous greed. Denial of science. And a belief in their own moral superiority.

How all of these things came together in one party is mind-boggling. Their parallel reality seems to be a universe of the soulless.

It seems to me that the only “cure” for their condition is evolution. But that takes a long time. And in the meanwhile, the rest of us are stuck with them.

So given that they're not going away anytime soon, how do we deal with them? And of most importance how do we keep them out of power?

The cure for republican/tea/liberatarian is to make them obsolete in that they are no longer any number big enough to care what that small minority states.

We're calling it republicanism now but it goes by many names. You've got light side motivation and dark side motivation. You can motivate the village to raise a barn or a gallows depending on which emotions you appeal to. And as the little green guy said, the dark side quicker, easier, more seductive.

There are several words trying to go for a general name for this, authoritarianism being a good one. Simple explanations for simple people, makes the world easy to figure out. Here's who you hate, here's who you support, punch the ticket and be a good soldier.

It's the same sort of thing that makes religion so attractive. Rather than uncertainty, someone will get up there and give you answers. Doesn't matter that they can't be tested, it's something to believe in!

You're never going to eliminate this shit, only contain it.

4. They have to be deprogrammed. They have been lied to,

for so many years, you can't argue with them. Otherwise, about all you can hope for is that the Repugs do something to their own that gets their attention and we can finally say, "We told you so!"

We yell about FOX, Limbaugh, Hannity and their ilk, but I think there are many others out there who are feeding lies 24/7, like Drudge, Beck (wherever his closet is at the moment), Coulter, Malkin, etc. I believe the poison is fed to them daily and that the "feelers" branch out to local radio stations as "more proof" that FOX, Limbaugh, Hannity are right and the rest of us are wrong. It is one hell of a propaganda set-up.

7. The same dilemma exists during a zombie apolcalypse.

Do you try to 'cure' the existing zombies? Or do you try to find out what's causing it so more aren't created?

The 2nd option at first glance takes more time but I'm not sure the 1st would be doable at all. After a certain amount of time passes, all you have left is a rotting husk. Who would want to cure that?
