Rush Limbaugh Hilariously Misinterprets Beyonces Bow Down / I Been On As Ode To Wifely Submission

I wouldnt say I exactly feel sorry for Rush Limbaugh, but its pretty embarrassing to comment on something in a way that reveals you literally didnt consider the material at hand for more than 30 seconds. Or 29, to be exact. Limbaugh went on the air to praise Beyonce Knowles latest single Bow Down / I Been On for what he thinks is the songs ode to submitting to your husband. She got married, she married the rich guy, she now understands she now understands its worth it to bow down, he says. Listen to the segment here:
Ewww, and segment @ link~
But if Limbaugh had listened to the song for fifteen seconds, hed know that its addressed to the women Knowles addresses in the opening lyric, when she sings: I know when you were little girls/ You dreamt of being in my world. and if hed gotten all the way to the 29-second mark, hed have heard Beyonce remind listeners, some of whom have been perturbed by her plan to tour as Mrs. Carterher husbands legal namefor her next album, I took some time to live my life / But dont think Im just his little wife. Now, Im aware that Mr. Limbaugh is a busy man with a lot of time to fill, and that being sexually nasty to women in public life only goes so far, but youd think that he has enough money to at least pay a staffer to listen to popular music hes going to natter about on the air.
And part of whats funniest about this is that if Limbaugh wanted to make a case that Beyonces an advocate for women making efforts to please their husbands, it wouldnt have been too hardhe just needed to pick a different song. In Countdown, for example, Beyonce pulls out the Betty Draper drag to tell her listeners that Im all up under him like its cold, winter time / All up in the kitchen in my heels, dinner time / Do whatever that it takes, he got a winners mind / Give it all to him, meet him at the finish line:
But then, maybe Limbaughs not ready to tell his female audience Ladies, if you love your man show him you the fliest / Grind up on it, girl, show him how you ride it. Though given the way hes willing to talk about the sex lives of women hes never met, and about which he knows precisely nothing, Id hardly put it past him.

(338 posts)The conservative radio host played pop critic on his show Wednesday, claiming that the singer's new single was an expression of anti-feminism.

Rush Limbaugh says Beyoncé is encouraging women to be subservient to their spouses in "Bow Down."
Rush Limbaugh is giving Beyoncé's new single two thumbs down in the feminism department.
The talk show host, 62, spent part of his show on Wednesday criticizing the pop singer for pulling a "total 180" with her new single "Bow Down/I Been On."
Citing a story in The Telegraph, Limbaugh claimed that, rather than extolling women's independence in her song, Beyoncé is encouraging women to be subservient to their spouses.
"Bow Down," according to Limbaugh, advises women to "put up with it."

I don't listen to Limbaugh nearly enough to comment on what he said; others here obviously may listen to his entire show, or at least large parts of it.
There are comments at the link, including one with a complete or nearly complete transcript of what Limbaugh said about the business yesterday.
