I swear, Mitch McConnell might spend more time on the Sunday talk shows than he does in the Senate. The latest wisdom being parceled out by Hell's favorite box turtle is that the Senate has given Barack Obama everything he asked for, so the administration has no reason to complain:
The White House has been trying to pretend like the President just showed up yesterday, just got sworn in and started fresh, McConnell declared Sunday on CNNs State of the Union. In fact, hes been in office for three years. He got everything he wanted from a completely compliant Congress for two of those three years
We are living in the Obama economy.
So McConnell is saying that Congress, in 2009-2010, was completely compliant? Wow. That's an impressive claim indeed. I remember filibusters galore, and near-blanket holds on presidential appointments, and a fight over health care that had whole segments of America convinced that "death panels" were coming to cart away grandma. I also seem to remember a stimulus that was gutted and replaced in large part with pointless tax cuts, and hostage-taking, always the damn hostage taking, and always centered around making sure the deficit-ballooning Bush tax cuts would never, ever expire.

(36,974 posts)Btw, earlier in the week I heard a Republican senator on the TV box say that President Obama has been in office for THREE and A HALF YEARS now - LOL
When he said it it was only 3 years and a couple of days.
The GOPers play loose with 'facts' even when they are not something that needs to be 'fibbed' about.
I also remember back when President Obama had only been in office for 2 1/2 years another senator said that Obama had been in office for a 'full three years'.
The GOPers aren't good with numbers

(20,441 posts)I dunno what kind of crap McConnell is trying to pull, but we should make an effort to prevent him and like-minded people from rewriting history.

(35,211 posts)It means the GOP is trying to take credit for Obama's achievements, instead of bragging about how they blocked him. I don't see how they can win a GE with either angle, but they'll try to have it both ways now - but the credit-sharing line of bs should really piss off their teabagging base.
