Police officer left off memorial because her husband killed her

Wis. cops outraged slain officer is left off memorial wall
The preliminary decision by the fund is purportedly based on who is accused of killing Sebena: her husband

MILWAUKEE — The state's chief law enforcement officer joined the chorus of outrage Wednesday over a national organization's decision not to include a slain Wauwatosa police officer on its memorial wall — a decision expected to be discussed Thursday by the organization.

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has tentatively chosen not to include police officer Jennifer Sebena on its memorial wall in Washington, D.C. Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen sent a letter Wednesday to Craig W. Floyd, the memorial fund's chairman and chief executive.

...

"It's appalling and a travesty. Apparently the Sebena rationale appears to be they have classified Jen Sebena's murder as a domestic violence incident, and it is completely offensive," said Jim Palmer, Wisconsin Professional Police Association president.

Jennifer's husband, Benjamin Sebena, 30, is accused of stalking her and shooting her to death Christmas Eve outside the Wauwatosa Fire Department station on Underwood Ave. while she was on duty.

"As it has been reported, last December her husband stalked her for three days. He followed her on the job. He learned when she would be most vulnerable, and that has a lot to do with her profession," Palmer said Wednesday.

...

Milwaukee police also weighed in Wednesday, sending out a tweet to the memorial fund asking: "If a cop was killed while directing traffic but the car was driven by their spouse, would you add their name? #Sebena."

If her husband killed her, she wasn't killed in the line of duty.

On the other hand, the group includes people who died of heart attacks and accidents in the line of duty.

My guess is they will reevaluate their initial decision and add her.

The NLEMemorial Foundation is mostly made up by a bunch of never were's. What matters is if the FBI classified as a LOD. Craig Floyd should do the right thing NOW. She is in the DEC.2012 statistics.

it's like him being her husband makes it less bad because she was his property to do with as he wanted.
