Are some truths about humanity inherently bigoted?

There seems to be this obsession with being "politically incorrect" among people.

The Washington Post has this special report "Gun deaths shaped by race in America". The basic thesis: "Gun deaths are shaped by race in America. Whites are far more likely to shoot themselves, and African Americans are far more likely to be shot by someone else."

While the article may be interesting to some, ho-hum to others, the comments section has gone WAY berserk. The most-upvoted comment:

The liberal press would like to have the "gun control conversation". That's because they don't want to have the "our failed liberal poverty programs have brought us to this point" conversation. Their misguided redistribution policies have single handedly destroyed the black family. Their blind support of public schools (defending teachers unions and radical utopian indoctrination programs) have left poor children with 4th grade skills level ... that is if ... they are in the 50% who actually graduate. The continued push for ever increasing minimum wages continues to make ANY entry level job, which can become the foundation for a work ethic, unavailable to most black youth.
No, I guess if I were a liberal and my policies were this guilty as to gaving caused this much misery, I'd rather have the gun conversation too

I've seen this argument about welfare destroying black family from at least one other DUer based on the Thomas Sowell (an African-American conservative economist) quote " The black family, which had survived centuries of slavery and discrimination, began rapidly disintegrating in the liberal welfare state that subsidized unwed pregnancy and changed welfare from an emergency rescue to a way of life" (from a 2004 column of his). (The book Answering Back offers a rebuttal at footnote 65: http://books.google.com/books?id=3f-VNEe7OQMC&pg=PA83&lpg=PA83)

2nd highest comment: "blacks are more violent than whites in America."

Another: " It seems that before blacks got their so called civil rights in the mid 60's, we had much fewer murders and smaller prison populations per capita So what was the major change in gun ownership in the country after the 60s dingdong? Only a low life progressive liberal socialist would call a solid fact "racist compost". "

It seems conservatives are obsessed with "politically incorrect truths" such as: black/Hispanic people are dumber/more violent, gay people are more likely to molest children (which is a fking dirty lie), women are weaker than men and shouldn't be allowed in combat, etc.

It's easy to make moral arguments against racism, sexism, etc. but how do you respond to people who justify their bigoted beliefs citing EVIDENCE like examples I just shared?

5. "All?" What about Colin Ferguson

He's a Jamaican immigrant behind the Long Island Rail Road and he killed 8 people including the husband of Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, and McCarthy often cites the LIRR shooting in her advocacy for gun control.

7. Statistically speaking, 100% of all gun deaths occured with the use of a bullet & gun.

But the article is racist and sexist.

Bet it took hours to find one of the few examples (and I did say ALMOST ALL).
Statistically rounded it is all.

And I know, Carolyn McCarthy and Mike Bloomberg are hated by the NRA and the gunnies.

2. For one thing, there's a rather obvious double standard in the way they talk about race.

Which is to say, essentially, that all black/brown people are implicated in the actions of some black/brown people. Whereas the same standard is never applied to white people - and if it were, white people as a whole wouldn't come out looking so good.

3. We haven't had liberal poverty policies ...

... for thirty years, during which time these problems have escalated out of control. It's not as if recent policies have increased support for public schools, or raised minimum wages, or expanded funding or eligibility for public housing or welfare. Whoever wrote this is stuck in the 1970's, and completely unaware of the current state of affairs.
