Why in the world would a church have an unsecure WiFi connection? That's crazy.
Detectives told parish officials that they had detected two downloads of child pornography from peer-to-peer websites by an IP address associated with the parish office, said Jack Smith, spokesman for the Catholic Dioceses of Kansas City-St. Joseph.
The downloads occurred between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 5, Smith said he was told by detectives.
The office, at 10113 E. Lexington Ave., had an unsecure WiFi connection, Smith said, meaning the downloads could have been made by a computer in the parish office or nearby.
Smith said the computers will be analyzed to determine whether any of the material was downloaded onto them.

(40,416 posts)But there really, really isn't a paedophile problem in the Catholic hierarchy.
No really! Honest!
Would a priest lie about that?
Jeez, Louise! How many more scandals like this can the Catholic Church endure? I get the feeling that it's nothing more than an organization devoted to supporting sexual predators.
Pope Alexander VI certainly was one (the Borgia Pope), and he served at the start of the 16th century. And his inevitable spawn produced even more evil. Look up Caesar Borgia. We all have heard of the Pope's daughter, Lucretia Borgia.
I get the feeling that just like the whole Internet rests on an infrastructure based on porn, so does just about every human endeavor throughout history. The Catholic Church is not immune to this anymore than any other human institution.
Maybe our close evolutionary cousins, the Bonobos, have had it right all along. A bonobo troop has a conflict? They resolve it with an orgy. Make love, not war. Makes sense, eh?
