Take your money out of the bank and join a credit union. If you must keep a current account and nothing else

1. I've used a credit union for 12 years, couldn't be happier.

Excellent customer service from actual humans; good interest rates; all the services you can get from a regular bank but without the crappy treatment.

2. Did that decades ago.

After finding how badly Wells Fargo reamed me for opening an account there, total mistake... so I took all my money out, back then I actually had some. And they charged me for that too. Been a CU member ever since, never had any issues either.

Guess I'll have to come up with something else for a present!

5. I joined 1st Services Credit Union when I was 16,

and it's aiite, except sometimes it is inconvenient to get to my money. What I don't like is that they aren't open 24-7, as they close at 5PM and are closed on Sundays and holidays. They also only have branches in the Bay Area as far as I know, which means I'll have to put my money somewhere else once I move upstate.
