A bill defining human life as beginning at fertilization and outlawing any direct or indirect state support for abortions cruised to Senate approval Monday.
But not before outnumbered Democrats forced Republicans into politically risky roll-call votes over birth control and whether to exempt victims of rape and incest from state abortion restrictions.

Haley proposed an amendment that would have clarified that defining life as beginning at fertilization would not ban forms of birth control that work by interfering with uterine implantation of a fertilized egg, such as the IUD and morning-after pill.

A couple of things to point out: The vile repukes who pushed and passed this know that it will be enjoined pronto, so they PACKED this bill with crap that may well stand from barring any employee or volunteer at PP from providing any information on sex or abortion is public schools to forcing clinic personnel to inform women falsely that abortion can cause breast cancer to not allowing a woman to claim any medical or insurance costs relating to abortion as an income tax deduction.
The other thing I want to (sadly) point out, is that like the ND "heartbeat" legislation, the lead on this was a woman.

(114,904 posts)are really pushed and passed to enable the passage and less extreme anti-choice measures that actually do more to restrict abortion than this shit. These fucks know that there is no way this will hold up for even a minute. It will never go into effect but it will tie up pro-choice funds in court.
