Hero Pit Bull Helps Find Elderly N.J. Woman Lost In The Woods

Like any other night, the pit bull had to go out to take care of business Thursday.

But within minutes, the dog’s owner said she knew something was wrong when Creature pulled her outside.

“When I brought her back outside, back to the same spot, heard the stick again cracking and that’s when she took off again barking,” dog owner Cara Jones told CBS 2′s Christine Sloan.

“Creature” had come across Carmen Mitchell, who suffers from dementia. Mitchell was laying in the woods about a half a mile away from her Piscataway home.

plus there were less then 30 dog deaths last year, very few involving pit-bulls as apposed to 50 bee deaths and 30,000 Gun Deaths

BREED ATTRIBUTION IN DOG BITE RELATED FATALITIES IS UNRELIABLE

The news media regularly describe dogs as members of breeds. However, recent developments in canine genetics, along with extensive surveys conducted by university researchers, show that breed identification of dogs of unknown origin based on visual inspection does not correspond with DNA analysis of the same dogs. Equally important, the professionals surveyed disagreed with each other when they attributed a breed or mix of breeds to the same dog. Unfounded assumptions about the significance of breed and misplaced confidence in visual breed identification have diverted us from a consideration of factors pertinent to the discussion of community safety and dog ownership.

So, given that they list 21 attacks by Pit Bulls, at least two-thirds of these have not had the breed determined reliably - leaving 7 out of 35.

Full disclosure; I don't own any guns and unlike many gun nuts, I do not believe they are comparable to living animal companions.

to walk on leash without dragging her owner. The video with the article shows her dragging at the leash several times. I am always appalled that people let their dogs drag them like that--especially a large, strong dog.
