The Komen foundation has moved firmly into the business end, verging on scam. Their purpose is to raise money for its own sake at this point. How can we know that for sure? Take a look at the Walther Hope Edition 22.
It can be found at Discount Gun Sales http://www.discountgunsales.com/walther-p-22-hope-edition-34-pr-4228.html in Seattle, where a small (undisclosed by the way) portion of the sale goes to the Seattle branch of Komen.
Thats right gentle reader, the Komen Foundation will use its name to pink-wash any product, including handguns.

(86 posts)Why do some people get apoplectic over those who wish to defend themselves and their loved ones against thugs and criminals? Can you explain it?

(61,650 posts)As a lesbian, I seem to have missed the memo that we're all armed to the teeth with pink (naturally) firearms with which we save ourselves from serious injury and death.
I am aware that many LGBTQ people own weapons. I support their right to do so. Your suggestion that we all own pink weapons is odd, to say the least. I'd like to see a citation for your post.

(86 posts)Indianapolis, 3 trips and I will do the same thing tomorrow night and Monday. My reference was really to the concept (and the organization) more than to literal pink pistols, I assumed readers here were familiar with them. I produced my sidearm one night while walking to my car with my boyfriend from a gay club in Tampa as 4 teenagers started to come at us waving clubs and baseball bats. They backed down, cut and ran instantly. I didn't WANT to shoot them but I will guarantee you I would have killed them all one at a time if they had continued to threaten us.
And I would never have lost one second's sleep over it. I don't think I ever suggested that "we" all either DO or SHOULD own weapons, pink or otherwise but I am very certain "we" need to insure our right to do so is safe.

Why do some people have little jesus-based tantrums at the thought that other folks are fucking for pleasure and not procreation?
Can you explain it?
Frankly, there's a lot more likelihood that we'll see women going to prison for taking birth control pills than we'll ever see meaningful federal gun control legislation in this country.

(22,541 posts)I've known quite a few gay guys who carry guns. In the military and federal law enforcement. They're fucking tough dudes. I assure you they don't carry Walther P22s of any color.
And nobody with a brain would even think of messing with them.

What a sad life it must be to live in constant fear of the rights of others.

(3,575 posts)I said fear the rights of others, not fear me or anything like that.
We are all raised differently. I don't care if you fear the 2nd Amendment rights of others and you shouldn't care if I practice them.
There is room for us all.
