It's time to get started, folks. This is the goal we must reach in the 2014 election. Right now, nothing else matters. Wherever you are in the United States, it's time to contact your district's Democratic organization and ask how you can help in your district.
If anyone thinks this is not the most crucial issue for the next year, they're wrong. It is the ONLY issue.
Choose the best possible Democrat who has a chance to win in your primaries and GOTV!
Start now, please.

(146,331 posts)Uff da!
Are you not planning to campaign for the Democrat in your Congressional District? If that's what you're saying, then I'm not even talking to you in the first place.

(8,347 posts)It does not matter if he is on the top of the ticket or not. What was the big issue in the 2010 cycle....
On the other question, I am fortunate that the Democrat who represents me is in a very safe district so I will do what I have done in the last few cycles, find a competitive house or senate seat where I can find a place to stay on the cheap (friends one family) and volunteer on a challengers campaign. I have gone to Florida, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire in the last three cycles

(146,331 posts)Nothing happens unless a bill is introduced. I can't understand why people can't get that simple fact.
Presidents can only propose budgets. That's where it ends.

(27,638 posts)Since he is has so little to do with the budget. This is an old but familiar story.

I'm starting to wonder about their true motives. Case in point, the OP, a "former" freeper who lied about his history there.

MineralMan
(146,331 posts)bring Democratic voters to the polls. That is how you not only keep the Democratic majority in the Senate, but increase it. It is the Congressional Districts that matter the most. Win in those, and you win in Senate races, too. Al Franken is the best example I can offer.

(27,638 posts)And gun control is going to cost us votes in the midterms. Don't believe me? Ask Clinton.
The numbers were against us last time too, but teabaggers helped us out by nominating unelectable extremists.

I hate it when people get down on our party. One thing the far right does is always support itself. We need that kind of tenacity.

(2,424 posts)Sure....I'll vote.
No more contributions though. I refuse to contribute toward the 1980 Republican agenda just to avoid the 2014 Republican agenda.
I need every last nickel for self survival now. "Every man for himself" is apparently in full effect and I need to prepare.
They won and I'm going to start playing by their rules.
I didn't donate a weeks worth of pay to the Democratic party to cut SS. I guess I have just given up.
Let me know when the Greens are viable. If a mob assembles, I'll do my best to help.
Since my prime source on retirement income is SS I am returning my latest solicitation from the dems Indicating that now I have to cut back also, and the
democratic party is nr one on my list. I will still support individuals who I believe are trying to help us. (Bernie Sanders,
Sherrod
brown etc. No more to the Party.

(6,119 posts)our current congressman, club for growth-er Tim Walberg, toady to the oligarchs, should be theoretically beatable. He is not exactly mr. personality and has a completely undistinguished record. He and Democrat Mark Shauer bounced back and forth holding onto this seat in the past.
Damn, I'd run against him myself if I had the $millions in financial backing I would need to go against his monied backers, and if I didn't have the skeletons in my closet that I do.
On the other hand, who in their right mind would want to subject themselves to what happens when you run for an office at this level against someone who has been corrupted by money like it has.

(6,336 posts)Want to see crazy? Look at the states that the GOP controls and see what they've done with voting rights, labor, women's health, etc.
And you want to really make a difference? Look at your school board and city council/mayor. Local governments are a 'farm system' for statehouses, which are a farm system for Congress.
And remember there are elections this year too.

If we can get the turnout of a presidential election, we can take the House and keep the Senate. It matters, it really does!
