I'm glad SGK reversed their decision but I won't give them another dime until Karen Handel is fired

She turned Breast Cancer research into a political witch hunt with her policies.

I am glad that the powers to be with SGK reversed that decision but as long as Karen Handel, who btw makes $500k a year with SGK, is a member of their Public Policy staff, then I am not donating any more dollars to SGK. I'll give directly to Planned Parenthood or other Cancer organizations again.

I promise though, that for DUers who still wish to donate to SGK - that is your choice. But I know how republicans operate - they try something stupid and get their hands caught in the cookie jar, well then they just find another wayt to coverup what they did and try again. I don't suspect for one minute that Karen Handel isn't steaming pissed that her plans didn't work. And my guess is if she finds another excuse to end the partnership between SGK and PP - she'll go for it. She is NOT to be trusted.

If Susan G Korman wants to gain back their respect they need to fire her and hire only those people who are politically neutral.

She worships at the altar of the fetus and she'll do whatever it takes to make this happen again even though none of the money from SGK goes for abortions and that 'investigation' that congress is doing is phony

They sent out a weaseling press release is all. Scumbags.

I just found out this morning that someone in my family is no longer in remission. These snakes are playing with THAT. Fuck them.

These jerks at SGKF are politicians in the worst sense. Breast cancer is a very personal subject to me (and most women) with family dying of the disease, and the fact that this group has exploited the subject to pay their CEO half a million bucks a year just makes me insane.

There are reputable medical institutions working constantly looking for "the cure". Why not contribute directly to them instead of this fraud skimming over 80% off the top?

Sincere condolences about your family member. It's heartbreaking, I know.

Komen always said it would honor grant commitments already made, so Planned Parenthood hasn't lost any current money yet from Komen. Komen said it wouldn't write new grants to Planned Parenthood because they were under a bogus investigation. Komen has done a "sorry if you were offended" style apology, but hasn't committed to doing any new grants for Planned Parenthood in the future.

The really bad news for Komen is that a bunch of the jelly is squeezing out of the sandwich right now, and a lot of people are getting a good look at things they had overlooked before. Things like Komen's poor rate of actual funding of programs as against its administrative and fundraising costs. There's also the little matter of Komen's cozying up to big corporate donors whose products may not be in women's best health interest.

Maybe Komen has reached the end of its useful life?

they reinstate funding for breast cancer stem cell research, which they defunded in November '11. For an organization based on finding a cure, it makes absolutely no sense, unless you're anti-choice, to defund stem cell research.
