Earlier I saw the Dem rep on MSNBC saying that Romney should showcase her more. She's his strength, or something.

There's a woman named Pat Dando who used to run the San Jose Chamber of Commerce. A few years ago the Chamber got into quite a bit of hot water for mailing out some postcards during a local election..."conflict of interest" stuff.

Anyway, I was at a joint networking event with the San Jose, Sunnyvale and Mountain View Chambers. We all PAID to be there. It was at a big hotel in San Jose, in the open courtyard area. Dando stepped up to the microphone and there were several hundred people doing what they'd paid to do...network. She yelled into the microphone "SHUT UP."

I was immediately pissed off and offended, as were a number of people there. But that's Pat Dando's style. She's a Meg Whitman / Carly Fiorina, but she doesn't even PRETEND to be charming (she resigned in December 2010).

I saw Ann Romney tonight and IMMEDIATELY thought of Pat Dando.

What the fuck surfdog?

You have a real friendly way of seeking additional information. My guess is that you're very popular around here, and it's easy to see why.

she said THIS time everyone needs to 'LISTEN and OBEY!"

LOL.

Imagine if First Lady Michelle Obama were to say such a thing, we would never hear the end of it!

ANY time we are trying to pick a movie to go see she brings up the fact that when it was my turn to pick, I picked that. 27 years ago.

Nevermind that over the years I have also picked Fargo, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Glengarry Glenn Ross, Hi Fidelity, The Crying Game, A few Good Men, Quiz Show, Saving Private Ryan, The Full Monty, Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, No COuntry For Old Men, et cetera, et cetera... do those ever get brought up? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo it's always "hah! You sure you wanna see that? You picked They Live ya know...."

YES I KNOW! SOMETIMES A GUY JUST WANTS TO SEE ROWDY RODDY PIPER BEAT STUFF UP!

ok. I feel better now.

The roaring crowds make for great PR for the campaign. Why tell them to "shut up"?

Another DUer made a comment the other day about Romney's best gaffes coming too soon before the election. I don't think he'll run out of gaffes any time soon.

I would look around to see who they were talking to. Even my parents never said that. I have never heard anybody use that term. It sounds rude and harsh.

I'll bet that was a fun house to grow up in.

...I was standing about three feet from her when she yelled "SHUT UP!" into the microphone. I did look around, people were basically stunned and offended, but this was precisely how this woman operated so she got away with it. She was unquestionably one of the most loathsome "power players" in Silicon Valley.

I rarely used the term 'shut up!' As vexed as I could get, and believe me that was vexed, I never liked the sound of it. I said 'hush' most of the time.

If I ever used that term, the kids got very quiet because they knew something was very wrong. They also knew that I was at my most pissed when I spoke very quietly. That would really scare them. They would rather have me raising my voice than that.

Shut up is the last refuge of despots!
