WE became a morally poorer country as a result of those in the senate.

The prompt tells me - "say something." I actually don't have to. That image speaks louder than anything.
ALTHOUGH... I plan to say plenty tomorrow with the Toll Free Capitol Hill switchboard numbers - collected in my sig line, when I call the "Democratic" Senators who voted to side with the filibuster-fiends and against the 80 - 90 percent of us from coast to coast on this issue.
For example, I've already written a message to Heidi Heitkamp. True, she represents North Dakota, and I'm in California. But does that make me irrelevant? HARDLY!!!!!!! I rather enjoy pointing out that when she was trying to get elected, her campaign was THRILLED to take my California money. They were DELIGHTED to talk to me. HAPPY to make time for me when I answered their call. And since my investment paid off and her campaign was successful, I'm well within my rights to believe that I helped her get that Senate seat. I paid. She took the money, and won. Therefore, I own her ass. And now, I see, my investment is turning into money down the drain. She voted against my expressed wishes.
Believe me, I called her Senate office after she spouted off on the Stephanopolous Sunday show several weeks ago, and insisted that nothing would get off the ground because what our side wanted was too extreme. I told them that this was something that, as her benefactor and campaign underwriter, I DID NOT WANT TO HEAR. I told the Heidkamp people that I did without several tanks of gas, and more, so that I'd have money to donate to campaigns like hers, and that I expect something in return. And if I don't get it, I'm GONE.
And I went further than that. I told that to Jim Dean when he personally called to thank me and shake me down for more. When the Al Franken people called me and hit me up, I told them he'd be next if he pulled a Heidi Heidkamp - as far as me being a reliable campaign donor. Because he was waffling on it, early-on. They ALL need to know. They ALL need to be aware that one of their little pals is in trouble if he/she won't bow to the wishes of the 80 - 90 percent. Never mind the 1 percent. Never mind the 47 percent. THIS, here, is the 80 - 90 percent talking.
If you helped at all, if you donated through ActBlue or any of those - or the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) or the DSCC (Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee), DGCC (for Gubernatorial) and DLCC (Legislative) - you have a right to expect certain things in exchange for that. OR they don't have to receive money from you. It's that simple. And you have the OBLIGATION to let them know. The NRA isn't the only entity out there with muscles to flex.
There have never been consequences attached to a voting record - on OUR side, before. The other side has the NRA and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and all those big guns twisting arms and leaning on the reps and senators they buy - to get the legislation they want. WHY CAN'T WE????

(26,623 posts)but I have also donated through ActBlue and all of the above to get more Dems elected and I WILL be letting them know.. no more money from me if any of it goes to any Dem who voted against this.
Thanks to a Dem majority in Colorado, we finally have univerasal background checks, but we need federal laws as well. I'm furious and ready to march.

i just can't stand these asshole, bought-off, deal makin' piece of crap politicians. it's only a priority if something happens that directly impacts them or their family.
example--
illinois puke senator mark kirk had a stroke last year:

How can any of the nay voters sleep at night.
And, for the record, the majority of senators voted for the bill... we are held hostage by the minority.
