Record cold in Europe has killed 300 -- so far!
While much of the US is experiencing a record warm winter, Europe is freezing under it's coldest winter in years, with nighttime temperatures falling as low as minus 40 Fahrenheit in Finland. The TerraDaily website has a page of details: Death Toll from Europe cold snap passes 300.
The TerraDaily article list several known deaths among Europe's homeless:
French authorities on Sunday found the body of a homeless man who had frozen to death, bringing to at least 306 the number of cold-related deaths reported across Europe.

Ukraine announced another nine deaths, bring their total to 131 -- most of them homeless people who perished on the streets since the freeze started nine days ago, Ukraine's emergencies ministry said
The cold has been accompanied by heavy snowfalls which are disrupting travel across Europe and the UK:
London (AFP) Feb 5, 2012 - Thousands of passengers were stranded on Sunday after heavy snow and forecasts of freezing fog forced London Heathrow Airport to cancel 50 percent of its scheduled flights.
"Airlines expect to operate about 50 percent of the 1,300 flights originally scheduled for today," the west London airport said in a statement on its website.
There are also reports that the cold and snow are straining emergency services across the continent.
TerraDaily would be a good place to keep track of developments as the cold wave continues.
