by others who might be inclined to carry out similar terror bombings?
Given how LE and FBI reacted to this bombing on Monday. Their show of force. The public's involvement with pictures and social media presence. Security cameras that monitor most everything these days.
Will this be enough to discourage future attempts by others or will it encourage them even more to try? Thoughts?

(82,383 posts)The suicide bomber, not so much. If someone is willing to kill themselves, they can kill anyone on the way out.

(65,490 posts)dumbass ones will arrogantly assume they are too clever to get caught, while the fanatical ones either plan to die at the scene or are willing to die for the cause whether at the scene or later.

showed him how they could track his movements from when he left his hotel

It may just change their strategy.
Plus, the two guys in Boston seemed to be on their own.
At least we haven't heard of any group saying they supported the brothers.

(8,303 posts)That's just my opinion and it's not like I have any expertise or anything, so my opinion shouldn't mean much.
IMO, quick arrests might dissuade crimes for personal gain, like embezzling, bank robbery, etc, but they do little to discourage crimes like this.
On the other hand, I don't think the effort here will encourage more terrorism. I think they would have continued until they were caught. I can't see any downside at all to catching the RIGHT culprits quickly.
