You know, there's no way in hell that today's congressional republicans would EVER do the right thing like they did back then. Sad.

(9,791 posts)Back then there was a tremendous amount of public pressure on Congress to impeach. Today's Republicans would dig in and block any such effort in spite of the blatant criminality that was going on in the White House. I lived through it and my memory of the reports from Woodward and Bernstein are still very vivid.

(14,887 posts)I always knew he was a Nixon apologist but to still be weepy 40 years later is strange. Topping that off by saying Nixon as persecuted and 'the man's a saint'.
Nixon persecuted? Now that is really crazy!

(50,481 posts)Even after all this time, Watergate is still a fascinating subject to cover. I loved hearing from both the actual journalists, Woodward and Bernstein, and the actors who played them in the movie, Redford and Hoffman. It was also great to see Rachel Maddow and Jon Stewart giving their perspectives as well.
Anything Redford does is done well, imo, and this is no exception.
