I thought he was supposed to get a show on MSNBC weekends? I keep on seeing him in MSNBC promos, but that's it.

I really miss his voice.

(4,619 posts)I worry that MSNBC has decided to cede the older demographic to Faux. It is true that they have the majority of older viewership, but that doesn't mean that you just give up on marketing to them.

(19,841 posts)--you are absolutely right this is stupid. My MIL got her Fux-watching friends to all watch Ed before the election. I KNOW he changed votes in the older generation (along with Rmoney's goofs).

(37,648 posts)and we have expendable income. We've not been the demographic they've been after for some years, but there's a whole lot of us, now.
I yearn for media people who REMEMBER things and didn't just read about them. My stomach turns every time I see the little Luke whatshisname on MSNBC. Really? That kid is talking like he has something to tell us?
Chris Hayes is pretty young, which is okay. But he talks fast, is a big city guy, and doesn't seem to be able to relate to working people. Because he's, well, he's not a working person in that sense and hasn't been around long enough to know any, it seems. He's a young, big city guy, so that's what his show is about so far. But he's smart and makes good points.
Still, I miss Big Ed. He was a little strong for me, but he had a take on some stories that no one else was covering.

(19,841 posts)I don't think it's fair to say that Chris Hayes doesn't relate to working people. His style is big city but I think he has the interests of working people at heart. His style is not populist, like Ed. But I think the situation of working people is on his mind. He knows that no society makes it for long by oppressing the masses. He's made that clear.
But I'm with you that MSNBC needs an "Ed."

(25,415 posts)He is about my age. But I like Big Ed as well. He is coming back on the weekends. Luke Russert is just plain annoying though.

(19,841 posts)If you hear anything let us know. My MIL is having a bad case of Ed withdrawal. If he was on the weekend she would watch. I hate that he's not doing the 8pm slot, but I understand he had to make changes. I like Chris too and he does a great job, but there is a place for a more direct, populist type like Ed.
Yoo hoooooo Ed where are uuuuu ???????

(36,974 posts)Now, MSNBC has set a start date for the new weekend version of The Ed Show, which will premiere on May 11th at 5pm ET. Schultz made the announcement himself on Twitter, indicating his excitement to get back to work.

May 11th will also mark the premiere of Karen Finneys new show, which will air directly before Schultzs show from 4-5pm ET.
