How difficult to turn Republicans into Democrats??

Since the elections of 2010 when the Repubs redrew many of the Congressional districts, Republicans have little fear of being defeated in a general election. They fear more a primary challenger. Their victories are almost guaranteed. It is almost guaranteed that they will keep the House in the next election also.

Republican incumbents do not fear the media and they do not fear the Democrats. They are pretty secure with their Republican base. That is why many were opposed to background checks, even though 90% of the people supported them. They know their voters.

But, do they? Surely there are Republicans that are not happy with their Party? How can they support such creatures and still sleep soundly at night?

Should Democrats go after these Republican voters? Would it be a waste of time? If we are intent on having a moderate Democratic Party, why couldn't we appeal to Republican voters also??

Otherwise, what are the chances for the Democrats in these gerrymandered districts? If Republicans cannot be persuaded to change Parties, what other options could you foresee for the next election?
Republicans were not meant to be in charge of the people's House. It is unnatural.

1. I think most republican voters are liberal and just don't know it. Or at least many of them are.

When you bring a topic down to the basic real-life level, and avoid using buzz-words or phrases that are used by media and politicians, you can be astonished at how many will agree with the liberal position. It astonishes them as well!

the biggest problem now is the obscene prevalence of buzz-words and phrases, and complete lies, that for too many people are their only source of news.

Democratic or Republican women. This would be their worst nightmare.

are hopeless. There is no reason to waste time on them. Better targets are progressive leaning Independents, at least those Independents will listen and think about your arguments. Independents saved our good Governor during the 2010 election when there was a surge in republican support, a telegenic, but empty suited republican challenger, a turncoat democrat running and Jill Stein running and hammering the sitting Governor at every chance she got with nary a word by her about the republican. Independents came through big time for the Governor, erasing the 3% Jill Stein vote to give the Governor a 6% victory. Massachusetts has benefited tremendously because of the foresight of the Independents and loyal Democrats that kept an effective leader in office when events conspired to defeat our Governor.
