Police Raid House Across My Street! Shots Fired!

My wife just came downstairs to tell me there were gunshots across the street. Careful peeking shows about 20 cop cars, including many unmarked ones. Now, the police have entered the house. and firearms are no longer in evidence. I have no idea what is going on there, but my wife counted five gunshots.

I guess my quiet St. Paul, MN neighborhood isn't as quiet as I thought.

Uff da!

There are at least 20 cops here, most inside the house now. A photographer from the police department has appeared, and is documenting the entire scene.

That house has been odd for some time. Lots of comings and goings, so there could be some sort of drug operation there, but I don't know. I do know that a man who used to live there was arrested there once, and he may be back. The police have regularly patrolled by that house for the past year on occasion. I assume they were looking for that person.

Anyhow, it's a little scary.

we are more than walking distance neighbors

If they are taking pictures, likely the action is over but be careful

All of the cops are still there, mostly plainclothes or detectives. Everyone is wearing white gloves, so I assume they're collecting evidence of some kind. I still have no idea what happened, and this is not the time to ask the cops. Once they're standing around their cars, I'll go out and ask.

for coming to that conclusion. I hope it's nothing too bad. That kind of sounds serious.

I hope this is not another "wrong address" case, and it doesn't turn out that authorities have launched a massive investigation searching for a "scratch-and-run" camel abuser, based on information received from NSA internet monitoring.

You might want to wash your hands and dispose of the clothes worn during that nefarious crime spree - just in case the guys with the white gloves are searching for camel hairs.

Fortunately, no actual shots fired. Just a long line of county police behind shields with AR-15s and shotguns proceeded ever-so-slowly into the house after the cops surrounded the place and called everyone out.

One of the new tenants in the house -- a group rental with some transients (they don't mow their lawn very often, either) -- was wanted for armed robbery and illegal firearms in a neighboring state. The guy wasn't home.

Interesting to watch it up close here in our normally quiet cul d' sac in Northern Virginia. Stay safe.

Cops are gone. They carried away some bags of evidence, but I didn't have a chance to ask what happened. Apparently nobody was shot or anything. It's all over now. Nothing to see here. Return to your homes, folks.
