Anyone see Tweety last night? If so what was he talking about in regards to gerrymandering?

He said that more people in the cities would vote for dem house members by 90% and that makes sense but then said something about the rural areas are only lost 60\40.

My issue with that is if more people vote dem dems should run the house and not let the minority populations rule...

Red staters and rural ares have an out of balance authority in congress right now....

Thx in advance for any input

regards

let's say (for simplicity) there are 3 million democrats and 3 million republicans and 6 districts.

if you did it fairly, of course you would expect to get 3 democratic representatives and 3 republican representatives.

but let's say you corral 1 million democrats into a single district. that district is 100% democratic, so of course the democrats get this one.

but then you split the remaining districts evenly, so there's 600,000 republicans and 400,000 democrats in each of the remaining districts. it's not impossible for a democrat to win, but it's quite likely that republicans get all 5 of these districts, or certainly at least 4.

so the result is a 5-1 split in favor of the republicans or perhaps a 4-2 split. democrats would need a miracle just to get the "fair" result of a 3-3 split.
