just made on msnbc - "Why throw out a perfectly good laptop?". It looks like this will be about establishing motive.

The other news is that one buddy tells a different story regarding when they tossed the backpack and laptop - one says it was earlier in the day the other says 6am the next day and the significance is that by 6am they surely knew the identity of the bomber.

Also reported that all 3 buddies can afford their own lawyers.

And one, the guy who gave false information and is looking at 8 years in prison, didn't look at the judge and she said: "i suggest you pay attention to me rather than looking down".

It does seem like these friends had money to burn and might have

I think in their minds they actually wanted to get to Times Square,not to blow it up, but to film a video proclaiming what they did (perhaps with masks and costumes as if filming a movie), then perhaps to go home and then filter the video on youtube

In another way, the marathon was personal to them, like the CONN school was to the killer there.
