Then a Democratic Legislator should add this simple Amendment to be added:

I recognition of the sponsor’s desire to protect the worker’s right to be free to work for the employer of his/her choice without being burdened by having to join a union, I offer the following amendment: Should a workplace have an existing union in place, the prospective employee remains free to accept employment with the employer, without being required to join said union. However, in furtherance of the employee’s right to work free from union burden, the employee shall not be entitled to the union-negotiated wage, benefits and/or other protections, that can be reasonable attributable to union activity. Rather, said employee is free to negotiate, individually, with any prospective employer, the full range of terms and conditions of employment.

Everyone else cuts their own deal with their employers.

I have absolutely no problem with your suggestion.

except those working class folks that want the benefits of union protection/activism, without having to pay union dues, let alone do union work.

A sizable segment of that group being the same folks screaming about paying taxes ... immediately before (or after) complaining that their roads has pot holes or their garbage didn't get picked up. This group grows up to hold mis-spelled signs saying: "Keep you government hands off my medicare."
