Trumka blasts Obama on Walmart
"Walmarts recent announcement of a plan to hire returning honorably discharged veterans is more about public relations than honoring our heroes," Trumka said. "That this effort was valorized by President Obama and Vice President Biden reflects an acceptance of economic failure out of line with Americas history or future.
"We owe it to our returning veterans to make sure they are treated as the heroes they are, rather than as symbols used to greenwash Walmarts eroding brand. After facing enemies abroad, is an $8.81 an hour part-time job the best we can offer returning veterans?"

(38,437 posts)I guess Trumka wanted Obama to simply declare the Walmart sucks and move on.

(4,869 posts)When campaigning Obama called Walmart out along with its executives. That's the President I voted for. I'll stand with organized labor and the AFL-CIO any day over Walmart just because a Democratic President had a few kind words for them.

Trumpka is right, veterans deserve better, the American people deserve better.
