...and for the entire following week, possibly longer. It's simple data entry stuff that a chimp could do, but the pay is quite good.
I'm just curious DU--if you were in my shoes, would you have turned it down on principle? There have been threads floating around criticizing that Asian-American actress for starring in that racist Hoekstra ad, even though she probably needed the money. I now find myself in a related, although rather different position--principles vs. employment. As a writer in NYC in need of extra capital, I'm currently signed up in three different agencies, and I take whatever jobs I can get. Since I have an entertainment background, up until now, it's been for companies like AMC, the Sundance Channel, the NFL, etc. This is the beginning of something quite new...
Aside from a few days working a reception desk at the Trump Building on Wall Street (and trust me, the man has very little to do with the companies inside the building), none of my jobs has been the least bit topical until now. In principle, I'm against venture capitalism. But I also need to pay my bills, and $16 per hour is nothing to sneeze at. So I said yes immediately--wouldn't you?

(51,473 posts)families. I've know a few liberals/progressive/anti-war folks who worked for some of the biggest, ugliest weapons manufacturers. Same is true of lots of us who worked for huge, capitalist corporations. Don't sweat it. You're not the one sending jobs overseas.

Enjoy!

(22,871 posts)bills and $16.00 an hour is nothing to sneeze at. Also, you turning down the job would have zero effect on Bain, but you should totally make copies of that cartoon and leave it in places where they'll be finding it for months (lol).

(6,238 posts)However, we are far from an ideal situation right now, so I say take the job. You have nothing to feel guilty about. A lot of people are forced to work for bad companies, but you have no control of their policy. Mitt and his buddies are the ones who should feel guilty, but I maintain they are sociopaths so no chance of that. Best of luck in the job.

That said it was the best job and the best people I've ever worked with. Go figure...
