And I remember thinking at the time that Comey was one of the rare good guys in that administration. Which is why I, like Rachel Maddow, am not unhappy about this choice. In fact, his confirmation should be fun, and really tough for the GOPers.

I certainly remember that. He is a good man, and is as good a choice as any that President Obama might make.

conservative asshole. Obviously he IS, or he wouldn't have been part of the Bush administration. It just means the Bush administration went too far even for a member of their own tribe.

It's positively disgusting that Obama is nominating this guy for anything, but not surprising. Obama goes around the country saying he can't get anything done without a Democratic congress, then he nominates Republicans to high positions in his administration. Obama keeps showing by his actions, not by his speeches, the low regard he himself holds his fellow Democrats in.
