worse yet they are automated calls and I can't tell them unless I call them back. I just don't answer the phone anymore unless I know the number calling.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]If I don't recognize the caller, the call goes to voicemail, where my recorded message says that unrecognized or blocked numbers are not answered. End of story.

I share the same sentiment. I certainly did not put my number on the list for nothing but I've been getting unwanted calls from some company. I have asked them to stop calling both my land line and my cell phone but they continue. They call several times daily and whenever I ask them to remove my number they hang up on me. I have file complaints to stop this company from harassing me but to no avail.

They promote corporate interests. They're not going to undermine them by cracking down on them.

It's why I always make it a point to report such calls to http://www.callercenter.com not only in an attempt to raise my concern, along with several others, to the proper authorities but to share a warning to other people, too. By posting the phone number on the website, that puts the violator into people's block list.
