I've known about the phone companies keeping records of your phone calls for some time now, and I have no 'connections', I just occasionally read the newspapers (on line). So for Joe S. to feign outrage that he didn't know about this program, after always talking about his private conversations with people one the hill, and all his sources of information is disingenuous.

Also there have been articles written about the "secret" facilities being built to warehouse all this data, complete with photographs, and I've read it all on line from reputable news agencies, not some blogger's speculation. These facilities have been built at great expense and some are the sizes of small cities including a huge facility in Utah. So for any member of Congress to say that they didn't know, they are either liars or would have to had spent the last 5 years living under a rock.

1. Just wait. Rand Paul is already putting his 2 cents in on this, too.

We will hear endless pontification from pundits and politicians. Curiously enough, both GOP and Democrats reviewed and approved this every 90 days since 2006 so I think the GOP 'mainstream' won't get much mileage out of it.
