I assume someone was about to come out with a story about the governor getting plowed under at a local bar, and so he got out in front of it with his admission of excessive drinking the night after (!) the capture of the surviving bombing suspect. I'm kinda taking this as a reminder about what a stressful job it is, serving in public office, and some of the distortions of personal habit that come along with the honor.
Do any of our Bay Staters have any thoughts on what this might do to Patrick's legacy, career, or public image?

That convention speaker slot has magical properties!

This so-called drinking incident is much ado about nothing.

(2,457 posts)when he arrived at the restaurant he told the host that wanted to be "as far from people as possible". If I were him and after a week like that it is likely that I would have said and done the same thing. I think just about anyone would have wanted to take the edge off with a couple of drinks. This is a non-issue.
Personally, I think any sensible Bay Stater will get it.
