Teacher receives suspension after raping student multiple times

A Houston high school English teacher had regular sex with a female student she was supposed to be mentoring, police said.

Fellow teachers became suspicious after hearing rumors of the affair.

But, despite being under investigation, Garcia allegedly kept on meeting up with the girl.

Police claim the teenager's dad caught the pair together at a park on May 21, but Garcia jumped in her car and drove off before he could confront her.

Suspension of accused teachers is SOP in public school districts, often with pay. You know, "innocent until proven guilty" and all of that.

If she's guilty, she will be fired and her license revoked, never to teach again.

after being accused, which is typical procedure for any accusation. next step is investigation/trial, & then she will be either fired or reinstated, should it turn out to be false. looks like it's going to court, since she's been 'charged,' & if convicted of those charges "sexual assault of a child," she won't be teaching anymore anywhere.

due process, it used to be a democratic value.

Garcia, who has been charged with indecency with a child and sexual assault of a child, was suspended from her job, KHOU reported.

your headline is misleading.

Age of consent is 17 in Texas, and sexual assault is the term used in Texas for statutory rape. If found guilty of this second degree felony, this teacher will end up on the Sex Offender Registry for life and, as you said, will never teach again.
