She was a rubber stamp for George W Bush or they just kept her in the dark like mushrooms. Every once in a while they would feed her a little bullshit so she could come in the front and say what a great job they were doing protecting our country. She is blind as a bat.
She may be a good Senator in some respects. This is not one of those respects. She is an incompetent patsy and gullible to everything that is given her, so long as it has a "SECRET" stamp on it. She should move over and let someone with a little more curiosity take her place, in my humble opinion.
2nd edit: change "Shit-Head" to "Republican Tool"...

(11,138 posts)I don't understand the usage of "Grandma" as an apparent pejorative in this context. Am I missing some cultural reference or something that would change the meaning here?

(111,104 posts)and loving and all the good things you can say about Grandmas.
But she is not tough, questioning, or curious about keeping our Constitution, in my opinion.
Grandma is not a negative description. It is just accurate for her position.

(2,895 posts)She may well be kind, sensitive and loving to her own grandchildren, but her history as one of the biggest Democratic war hawks doesn't demonstrate much kindness, sensitivity and love to other people's grandchildren.
Grandmothers can't be reduced to a stereotype... but even if they could, I just don't see how Feinstein fits the stereotype you have outlined. I've lived in San Francisco (her hometown) for the last 35 years, and I have never heard her described that way. (More like, the opposite.)

I watched the hearings and couldn't believe my ears.

(1,735 posts)you've bought the right wing kool aid and have turned against any and all progressives. Just who is around that you do trust? Let's get the straight story before castigating people in the government who are actually concerned about YOUR safety whether you believe it or not. Let's investigate and change things we don't like, but let's get at the truth.

(111,104 posts)No, I do not trust Shit-Head Feinstein on the Intelligence Committee.
On edit: changed "Grandma" to "Shit-Head" so it would be more appropriate by DU standards.

(111,104 posts)I don't think they take an oath to personally protect and defend my "safety". We have local and county law enforcement that does a pretty good job, thank you.
Who's drinking the "right wing kool aid"? Who is supporting and embracing the Bush doctrine on foreign policy and secrecy to protect us from the terrorists? This is a big turn for the Democratic Party if that is the direction we choose to go?
Bluenorthwest
(45,319 posts)for sure. She's also not Barbara Boxer, Ron Wyden, Bernie Sanders, she's Diane, who stood up on a platform built of the bones of Milk and Moscone so she could betray their principles a thousand times. Last week she and her centrist ilk demanded the removal of protections for LGBT people from the immigration bill, she said it would pass instantly as long as her GOP friends did not so much as have to debate those aspects.

(42,290 posts)DiFi was always a pushover for the GOP. She made some favorable noises sometimes, but ALWAYS voted against progressive issues, ESPECIALLY when it dealt with war or intelligence services.
Hell Hath No Fury
(16,327 posts)DiFi was never a favorite here back in the day. She was considered a hawk who aided and abetted Bush's worst foreign policy nightmares.
You've been here for 6 months and you know what DU was like during the Bush years? Zombie much?
