Discernment

Discernment is the activity of determining the value and quality of a certain subject or event, particularly the activity of going past the mere perception of something and making detailed judgments about that thing. As a virtue, a discerning individual is considered to possess wisdom, and be of good judgement; especially so with regard to subject matter often overlooked by others.

I think a lot of people need to take a deep breath and keep the above definition in mind when 'breaking news' about the latest Obama-centric scandal, outrage, or what-have-you is thrown out for public consumption.

We all know the crazy-ass right wing will do ANYTHING to either a) impeach Obama, or b) ruin his presidential legacy. They failed at keeping him from being re-elected and are seething with hatred. The irony of GOPers attacking Obama for following the Patriot Act (a law forced down our throats by them) is beyond words...we have known for a very long time what they are capable of doing, no matter how vile and subversive.

So please, use your heads and take some time to think about the information presented, where it's coming from, and the possible motivations behind it. Even information that's true is often taken out of context, rushed out for public consumption before facts are fully verified, or politically manipulated and distorted. It's very foolish to form an opinion after reading or seeing a report from one source. The media isn't exactly trustworthy anyway.

Just something to think about after seeing some really outrageous posts here on good ol' DU.

I'll point out that it applies to everyone, including those who react in outrage every time it's suggested that Obama doesn't represent the nation, or his supporters well.
