Ron Paul: ‘We Should Be Thankful’ For Edward Snowden

Ron Paul: ‘We Should Be Thankful’ For Edward Snowden

Former Republican congressman Ron Paul, a leading civil libertarian, on Monday praised the efforts of Edward Snowden, the source of the National Security Agency leak.

“The government does not need to know more about what we are doing. We need to know more about what the government is doing," Paul said in a Campaign for Liberty statement. “We should be thankful for individuals like Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald who see injustice being carried out by their own government and speak out, despite the risk. They have done a great service to the American people by exposing the truth about what our government is doing in secret.”

Campaign finance records show that an "Edward Snowden" made a pair of $250 contributions to Paul's 2012 presidential campaign, according to the Washington Post.

Actually be the mainstream republicans, though I am not sure what that means anymore, but more the tea party elements of that party

Greenwald was falsely associated as being a liberal, but his leanings are definitely libertarian, and his "hatred" of Obama, and I do mean "hatred", not with regard to this latest incident, but his relentless attacking of the president throughout his presidency, including jumping on board with the loonies on Lybia and IRS

Greenwald has a definite bias

How is it that you want to smear Snowden by associating him with Ron Paul with simultanously not giving a rat's ass about what Ron Paul thinks or does?

He sure doesn't seem like a civil libertarian when it comes to voting rights, women's rights, or gay rights. Where's all the outcry from these supposed libertarians over those issues?
