(30,676 posts)and yes, it shrank more and more every year. The show is actually owned tho by Liberty Media, and gets most of its funding from foundations and corporate contributions. It's very expensive to do tv news, and there just isn't enough charity money to make do, though they try and try. I wouldn't know for sure, but it seems John Malone, who owns Liberty Media, clearly doesn't want to make the investment to keep the NewsHour solvent. Or maybe he thinks shedding the 2 field offices will save the show. It was always an obvious move, but the NewsHour management really really hates to fire people, and tried like demons to keep us employed, especially Denver management. It just was time to do it. Good luck to them i hope they stick around for years.

(32,017 posts)I think it's a national embarrassment that We the People of the United States have to beg from our own citizens in order to preserve public broadcasting. It's humiliating, really.
