Change of pace: A small business investment question

I'm finding that investments in small business and entrepreneurial ventures are focused on people under 35. I can't tell you how many times I've seen contests asking entrepreneurs to submit their ideas, only to find you must be under 35.

The traditional workplace is hard enough on those of us over 40...it's brutal for those 50 and over...and now even small business initiatives developed by those of us who are older encounter ageism as well.

I've tried contacting the AARP Foundation, to see if they would consider branching out to invest in social enterprise and small business created by those over 50, but no luck.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to where someone 50 or over could look to find investors more inclined to favor this age group's wisdom and experience?

I've posed this same question on Quora, LinkedIn and other sites. BTW, DU has a group dedicated to small business owners and entrepreneurs, but there is VERY little activity, unfortunately.
