(14 posts)I have been a avid reader of DU for many years now, and I have tried posting before under an old screen name a few times, but it was never well-received. So, I am now going to participate under the name of a movement I am a part of. I hope this effort goes a bit better. Thanks again!

(57,936 posts)We may be the most corrupt nation the world has every known.
It's very sad, but I am beginning to think so. I would not have said that in the 1950s yet. But now . . . . .

This is possibly the most propagandized nation ever. And what is amazing, so many support politicians that will do the most harm to them. It seems the Stockholm syndrome works quite well for many when they go to vote.

(67,111 posts)That, is pure bullshit. The militarized force was coordinated and the smear campaign with disinformation was well coordinated, to influence the perpetual DUH crowd, the lambs and lemmings, and the 'deer in the headlight' crowd.

(27,137 posts)The spores of decay lie within the system itself. A system which touts justice but honors avarice and corruption cannot be redeemed. A paradigm shift is required at this point. The spiral is completing this cycle and the only place left is complete police state.

(484 posts)which will render 3000 (low income) homes incompatible with residential use. The F-35 is four times as loud as the F-16's which currently lower our standard of living in Chittenden County, Vermont. It will damage your hearing if you happen to be outside when it flies overhead.
The scoring data in the base selection process was "fudged" to favor South Burlington, VT to Satisfy Pat Leahy, per the Boston Globe's Brian Bender. A lawsuit has been filed to compel release of the scoring sheets. A phone call from Sen Leahy or Sanders would have them released in a day.
I am a former long time Bernie supporter and am broken-hearted by this. If Bernie was serious about helping people he would object, with his full voice, to the F-35 program, which is now projected to cost 1.5 trillion (and rising) over the next fifty years.
Bernie is helping turn the cute little city of Winooski, Vermont into a "sacrifice zone".
Bernie is full of shit.

It's irresponsible alleging things without providing sources to prove your argument.

(7,309 posts)... so, I did a quick google and found this from his website:
Now, I am a little bothered by this, but pales in comparison to what the previous poster was alleging. And with some context, it doesn't appear to be of the magnitude or the maliciousness with which the previous poster implied.

(484 posts)I'm real, and all I have said is that Bernie supports this horrifically unjust plan, betraying his legacy of supporting affordable housing and economic justice issues.
I understand that people who don't have to deal with this issue might not want to consider the implications, although, the F-35 is such an expensive plane (1.5 trillion dollars over the life of the program) and so unnecessary, and so underperforming, everyone should be against it.

(10,558 posts)A few years back a fellow DUer ran a DU poll asking who your favorite Congressperson was.
The person who won that poll was Senator Bernie Sanders. Senator Sanders is an Independent, not a Democrat.
Remarkably here in the Democratic Underground, this Independent Senator won that poll in a two to one landslide over the rest of the field!
I suspect the good Senator's popularity has diminished around here not in the slightest!

(802 posts)...I say, the only way out of the sorry-ass mess we're in is public financing of campaigns, strict curtailment of the amount, and duration, of campaign advertising, and most importantly, the total elimination of all campaign/political contributions. Maybe then we'll find out who the real crooked Pols are instead of confusing stealing with legalized bribery.
Amonester
(11,541 posts)the real crooked pols themselves (in the current system).
Hope real democratic candidates committed to do that urgent change can be found first, and elected next.
That's all what's left to hope for.
