Rick Perry may not be the front runner now, but he's making a bold move for first place again

In the fierce race for "Worst Embarrassment of Texas," currently a neck-and-neck tie between Louie Gohmert and Ted Cruz, failed joke-of-a-presidential-candidate Rick Perry has just held a pitiful ceremony in which he signed some meaningless bill, and proclaimed that the Constitution may guarantee "freedom OF religion," but NOT "freedom FROM religion."

You heard it straight from the Statehouse in Austin, people. As American citizens, you MUST subject yourself to religious indoctrination of some sort of other, even if you have some latitude in choosing which one. But you do NOT have freedom from it altogether. You are NOT free to choose no religion at all. Forget James Madison. Rick Perry says so, and that's that.

Hah! Bet y'all never learned THAT one in civics class, did you?

Well, actually, after this, I'm not so sure any more about WHAT they'll be teaching in Texas schools.

"An I wanna be the nextest Texasest Presidentary person!"

This goober is dumber than a sack of hammers. The entire state is so fucking lucky no one from ALEC has drafted a stand your ground law okaying the shooting of stupid people...You'd lose 80% of the population overnight.

Back in the summer of 2008, my nephew, who looked much younger than his 18 years, overheard some excited members of Joe Biden's staff discussing about how their boss would be announced as Obama's VP pick later on that day. It was supposed to be a big secret. I posted it on DU about half a day before the announcement was made, and close to 100 DUers blasted me for being full of crap.

None of the offensive ones even bothered to apologize when it was confirmed later on that afternoon.

So, don't believe it when someone tells you 3 years out who the nominee (of either party) will be. In 2005, many of us were absolutely convinced that our nominee would have been Hillary.

In the immortal words of my idiot governor: "oops."
