Abstract

The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.{snip}

4. It's clearly true. Look around.

The anti gay people around here are droolers who shout snark at others and post we 'smilies' rather a lot. They say 'it's just one song' and 'poutrage' and 'pony' and they post right wing crap 'Did you hear? He's gay!' and they all circle around it clucking like chickens...'gay! he's gay! we got gays around here too....' and off they go for days on end, showing the world how 'smart' they are.
No surprise to anyone who has met a bigot or read DU3 for a day....

5. Less cognitive develpment would naturally result in greater fear and insecurity.

It's more about regional integration as someone can be of low 'intelligence' but still have no such phobias.

Just look at your average "right-wing" movement like the KKK and then compare it to Occupy or the Human Rights Campaign. There is a huge disparity. Also this meshes well with IQ scores from around the world where more religious countries (Saudi Arabia, the southern parts of the US, and Iran) have lower IQ's and progressive nations have higher IQ's. It turns out it has nothing to do with race but actually their political beliefs.
