USA Today: In Syria, America may find itself in a war centuries in the making

In Syria, America may find itself in a war centuries in the making
BERIUT - The decision by the United States to aid Syrian rebels militarily will bring America in direct conflict with Hezbollah, the designated terror group and paramilitary force that is fighting for the Syrian regime of Bashar Assad and controls the Lebanon government.

Hezbollah's involvement in Syria's civil war is aggravating a centuries-old conflict between the two major sects of Islam - Sunnis and Shiites - and some fear it threatens to ignite a new Middle East beyond Syria's border.

President Obama has said his goal is to help the rebels protect themselves from Assad's military. But doing so will place America firmly on the Sunni side of the Middle East conflict and in opposition to the growing Shiite military axis of Iran-Syria-Hezbollah, say experts.

Much more at the link!

We need to get right in the middle of this explosive shit, amiright or amiright or amiright?!

War means jobs and so if you're against a new war you're against new jobs!

Why do you hate Americans with jobs?

Just sick. We've been lied to so many times over the years - that it is very difficult to see anything but 'murder' in this situation. Regardless of the administration and congress - unless another country declares was against US - then attacks then I can't get behind it.

...how absolutely necessary it is for us to arm the Syrian rebels, because of humanitarian concerns; yet our government never lifted a finger in Rwanda as a million people were slaughtered.

Yeah, I'm sure our reasons for intervening in Syria are all high-minded and noble. Sure. Tell me another one.

Think of the awesome new hardware! Think of the movies that'll take the Syrian War as inspiration! Think of the awesome, sexy war photography! Think of how GOOD America's going to feel about itself!

AWESOME!

Money trumps peace, Baby!

PS: I hope we are wrong, but this is opening up the kind of worm can that will leave most of us wishing we were never born.

PPS: Of course, those who are eligible for invitation into the secret, secure locations will continue to enjoy a higher probability of survival.

The present iteration of this old fight came into being when we kicked out the keystone of the arch at Baghdad....

that's a good thing to know, a little confusing maybe since Saddam and Osama were Sunnis, but maybe we can just not think about it too much.

This will cull the mercenaries from the boys. And we are going to need more of those, because now that Monsanto is using mercenaries, every corporation is going to want some.
