Every month my partner (or husband, as I call him, though our state only allows domestic partnerships) and I get to spend $100 in mad money.
M-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-Ad Money!!! We don't have to tell each other what we spend it on, we don't have to account for it, we both just get to pocket one hundred smackaroos to spend on hookers or blow or any sort of wild shenanigans that we put our minds to.
This month I spent my wild money on: donuts for my staff, donuts for the people my partner works with, a $12 painting on ebay and I got a kitten. (Who is doing fantastic, by the way!) Yeah, sorry, I know we homosexuals are supposed to be wild and terrible...I hope I'm not too much of a disappointment to the far right.
I never ask my partner what he spends his money on but I usually find out. He used to buy his interns coffee cards with it but he changed jobs and has no more starving interns to feed. So what did my huz spend the dough on? Booze? Drugs? Pornography? Naaaw... He sponsored a hungry looking kid in the Phillipines, an even hungrier looking kid in Africa, he made a $25 donation on KIVA to some angry looking goat herder in a country that ended in "stan", and then he really splurged and bought himself an $8 book on ebay.
And that's why I married the guy. If he has a little bit extra he shares it with people in need. I am always touched by his kindness and generosity. And, since he is the son of Staunch Republicans, I'm even more proud of him when he shows his super Christian family what Christian behavior truly is. He has a truly beautiful soul. May you all have someone like my hubby in your life.
Peace & A Very Happy Weekend To You.

Though, after I wrote this post, I did think, "Um, last day of school, summer break, maybe a you should have a shot of whiskey or tequila or something that will mark the occasion. " Join me for one?

But damn, your garden is going to look like an Ikea comforter. I'm not sure that's a good thing.

(354 posts)Beautiful story. Thank you for your willingness to put yourselves out front, and show that LGBT people are not going away. I would proudly stand by side by side, and show the world that gay people are just...just ...well....they people

(22,057 posts)most gentle and thoughtful person I've ever known. After seeing my mom survive over 40 years with an self-centered, obnoxious jerk (I call him Dad) its nice to know that it doesn't HAVE to be like that. Sounds like we both found class acts. Congratulations and enjoy!

(9,462 posts)starving children more than they do. They'll certainly want to show they are more Christian and/or righteous. Heck, they'll probably start a 501(c)4 group called, "Bible Thumpers who want to help starving children before homosexuals do".
Wonderful hubby. It's all about how you get your feel good. He gets his by helping others. So do you awww....
I'll bet next month the whole hundred bucks goes to the kitten. Just sayin'

(4,359 posts)If you haven't seen KIVA, it is awesome. When you join you can be part of a group--which then shows which groups give the most. The gay group and the Christian group always seem to be punching it out at the top.

(2,560 posts)I mean buying donuts, sponsoring hungry kids and buying a book on ebay!!!! Shocking!!!! Horrible!!! Too much to take in!!! (am I overdoing the exclamation marks here?)
But what really worries me is...you got a kitten. Those vicious creatures attack my 45kg Dobermann. He's defenceless. He has to lie down and let them walk all over him.
OK, I'm being facetious. You sound like a wonderful couple. I wish you both all the happiness in the world.
I truly do.

(2,672 posts)My wife. The most wonderful, caring, kind, generous and giving person I have ever met. She is loved and adored by my whole family. Everyone she meets has an immediate positive reaction to her.
I'm one lucky person to have her as my wife.
So yes, I know what it's like to have a person such as your hubby in my life and both you and I are very happy as a result.
