He invented the term "security theater" to describe things like taking off your shoes in airports, or forbidding liquids on flights as being utterly useless.

This guy's the real deal. Pragmatic and way ahead of the curve on how to deal with security so it actually works.

BTW, he's where I am on this NSA stuff but is more supportive of Greenwald and Snowden than I am inclined to be. I suspect their political motives. However, I am inclined to listen to what he has to say and make adjustments.

I've had the Second Edition since shortly after it came out in '98. Schneier explains the uses of cryptography to implement security in a very lucid way.
