Is anyone watching Turkey?

Five people have been killed and thousands injured as Turkey continues to be rocked by its biggest wave of anti-government protests in years. Ankara has been criticized for its crackdown on the protests, which it has been trying to downplay in the media.

Until the money grubbing power hungry overlords of society are put in their place nothing will change. The "common people" in any country don't matter to the most powerful countries. It's all about the 1% and who they can control and what people are allow to consume and put up with.

people are waking up to this. Even in places like Israel/Palestine, it's dawning on people that the real enemy is the 1%, not the immigrants, not the little people terrorists.

It warmed my heart to tune in Turkey's livestream and hear people singing the old classic Bella ciao.

Aren't they protesting the government moving toward an even more Islamic state there? If it turns into a civil war, who would the various players in the area back? Would the west let Turkey fall into a total civil war without trying to stop it?

... and that under the covers will be another agenda to have those troops being available to insert themselves in to the Turkey unrest. And then the question would be on which side they would be put on. I don't want them to support the Erdogan government, but putting them in at this point on the side of the protestors would completely blow things up too, even moreso than if we went in to Egypt I think. I hope Obama and the military leadership think about this before even looking at just aerial no-fly zone enforcement, that most likely would need to be done from Adana, Turkey. A pretty dangerous set of cards being dealt now in that region.

Everyone who enters the Taksim Square to be treated as terrorist: Turkish EU minister

Everyone who enters Istanbul's Taksim Square, the heart of the nearly 20-day-long protests, will be considered a terrorist, Turkey's European Union minister said in a televised interview today.

"The police will intervene in everybody who try to enter the Taksim Square treating them as a terrorist," Egemen Bağış said hours after the police's intervention in protesters in Istanbul.

...

Bağış has been criticising the foreign media for exaggerating the protests in Turkey.

At first Richard Engel was reporting about the park protest, and then how it grew after those protesters were mistreated, and then how it really grew as people against the growing and more repressive Muslim government, framing it as every credible source seems to describe it, a battle against those who feel they are losing their democratic principles and being run over by a more repressive state.

Then Airhead Burnett came on and suddenly it was being reported with the protesters as the evil ones and the government just trying to regain control from the lawless terrorists. It's too bad, she almost had a soul when she was reporting with Mark, but whatever she's selling herself for new seems to keep anyone from challenging the pap she is dispensing.

Glad there are real news outlets out there, but most Americans will never see it. But thank you to the folks posting them anyway.
